************Hobo Poetry**************

Soon, the dreamless became the sleepless

Left with only pocket change

And worthless collectables to rearrange.

Later, the hopeless became the reckless

With the consciousness of a hornet

He wanted to sting every flower he met.

Presently, he wallowed in the mire

The spark that would set the world on fire

Expel the demons as the smoke floated higher and higher

Into the atmosphere.

He begged

And pleaded

Every day

Fewer and fewer words he had to say.

And ‘Poof’ he was gone

Down the rail.

A single hair

Drifted into the stratosphere

No one remembered

No one cared.

His tombstone wasn’t even there.

He now stayed on the caboose

Staring back

Looking for bridges he passed

Watching them explode then collapse.

His future

Bleak as ever

Only by divine intervention

Could change the course of the track

He traveled on.

Doug, this is one of your best.
"With the consciousness of a hornet
He wanted to sting every flower he met."
A rich poetic insight this line ...

"dreamless - sleepless
hopeless - reckless
wallowed in the mire" ... this progression paints a picture antithetical to what Christ wants for His creation. So sad, but so many choose the paths that encourage this kind of degradation in character and purpose.

Blessings brother ...

"Only Divine intervention could change the course of the track he traveled on." We all reached these points, many times in defeat and frustration, unwilling to make the next step - for fear of falling deeper, but Divine intervention, God, comes at the last minute, to save us from self-destruction. I hope my tombstone will sat two things:
"She wrote & she prayed."
