****Chances rarely are given twice****

You were never mine

So I knew there would come this time.

A time to say good-bye

I knew someday it would come

So that’s why there are no tears to cry

What I feared would be an untold lie.

No sad farewells

Our Fountain isn’t found in the bottom of a well

Peace and happiness I pray will always inside you dwell

I do more than wish. . . . .

I tell you all of this. . . . .

Sealed with a secret kiss.

Yes, you I will miss

You were never mine

So I knew there would come this time.

No time to reminisce

Only I can recommence

Dust the paintings from off the wall

Each one has its own story – that’s all

Bring the horses in - that jumped the fence

For those who aren’t riding – this doesn’t make much sense.

I leave you with a quarter

You give in return  - sixpence

But you’ll know what I mean

Your senses so keen.

My moment has passed

What in this world lasts?

I feel the gail off the southwestern gulf keys

Unfurl the sail from the mast

Only the beholder knows what it sees

And what I see  - I must leave be.

Wind blown coastal seas

Gone with time

You were never mine.

Bittersweetly sad and compelling; the sentiments expressed within your verses are some to which I can completely relate. Thank you, Douglas. Love and peace to you,

This is your best ever poem Doug! the emotion flows over the senses like warm honey. Gorgeous image too! Unfortunately this sounds like the finality of divorce for some reason to me, a gentlemans view, if it is, I am very sorry. I've tasted the bitter gall of this once in my life. Know that you are loved in this camp!
Blessings ...
