High up in the Sky
I walk a desert – in a mirage I walk alone
With no destination – I have no home -
I travel for miles – my feet grow weary – as does every swollen bone.
Without hesitation – I keep moving forward – though it’s dreary – monogram to the tone.
I look high up in the sky
When I hear a crow fly by
First life I’ve seen – except these lizards that tag my side
Then a coyote I happen to see – then he hides
While all this time - long ago – he had already spied me.
That crow craws out again
You know, I’m beginning to think he’s talkin’ to him.
High up in the sky
Then that crow comes - sits on a distant limb
Starts crawing out again
Then all his friends start circling in
Landing - joining him
I think those crows are hoping that coyote will have me for dinner
And leave my bones for those crows to pick thru.
Keep moving – don’t let them get to you.
Daylight’s burning
World’s turning
Do what ya got to do!
*******
I walk a desert – I walk alone
With no destination – I have no home
High up in the sky
I see a shootin’ star fire by
Where it goes – I can’t say
But it looks like it’s ticket was punched just one way
I’m travelin’ by.
No particular reason why.
Kickin’ that ol’ tin can
All over this land.
Keep moving – don’t let them get to you.
Daylight’s burning
World’s turning
Do what ya got to do!
You might only get this one chance
Then again – you might not even get to dance.
