Dear Santa...

Dear Santa

I’ve been a bad baby
Whining and crying
Struggling and cussing
Disappointed many
Fell down too often
No clear vision
Distracted by pettiness
One step in front of the other
Is how I’ve skimmed by
And now it’s almost Christmas
I’ll put my hand out too
If it comes back empty
I’ll understand
It’s all up to you...

Oh this is so charmingly written. The image that comes to mind is of one of those cute Mabel Lucy Atwell children with their hand outstretched. Only a very churlish Santa could resist this honest and trusting plea...and Santa is never churlish..is he?? Love and Hugs, Diana

Great, Liz. This is so cute. You capture the fact that we're all human and we make mistakes. I bet that palm is full when you pull it back to your waist! Love and Hugs,
Sheila

How interesting! A poem in which someone admits faults and accepts disappointment. A poem rich in honesty. You've captured humanity in a well written verse. Much enjoyed.

Suffer the little ones to come unto me, said Jesus and he didn't mind if the were naughty or nice, at least nothing has been printed to that effect.

I interpret this on a "broader" scale, Liz. Thank you for provoking my thoughts. Love and best wishes,

How could Santa resist such honesty and downright humility, making of him no demands whatsoever, just living with faith and trust in his goodwill?

I bet this letter goes straight to the top of the pile! Hope your chimney's a big one, Liz! :)) This gets 10 out of 10 from me... especially as I can relate to it a good deal. High five to you, Lady. xx

The line that sticks out to me is "distracted by pettiness"... Made me stop and think about how easy it is to do...
Thanks for the thought provoking write.

Oh, this is powerfully penned, Elizabeth. I seriously doubt he'll pass you by, not with the honesty in these lines. Well done, and Merry Christmas.

Santa has a big heart....you will just have to wait and see... but I am guessing he fills every one's dream.

Well the first step to redemtion and receiving mercy is accepting that you have been bad or naughty so I think as Santa Fee I would forgive with the promise to try and do better in the New Year.
