Omen

Dark clouds forming
Static in the atmosphere
Sporadic bursts of kinetic electricity
Exploding in the sky
Framing the rolling black clouds
Chanting in a low rumble
Chaos escapes order
Another assault beginning
Another blunder into the macabre

Spot ON, Elizabeth!! Spot ON!! You have captured the experience

I see this poem with double meanings...both ominous in their own way, yet storms bring rebirth as well...

This piece can be read simply, Liz, or be felt more deeply for its use of metaphor ... either way, it is a wonderful, descriptive write. Well done! Hugs, Elizabeth

There's a lot of punch in this menace you describe, Liz--one of those rare poems that says a lot in only a few words--reminds me of the brevity of my own poem, Sister Silence, although this one is a descriptive enjoyment, too....Jerry

Elizabeth,
Strongly expressed dark and foreboding metaphor current and apt (unfortunately) for these times. Well said!
