A very deep message here, Liz. I'm taken by the weight of the responsibility in the last few lines. Those words remind me of moments in my life when I felt in over my head. Like getting married, buying a house, being in debt.... Since I'm not a mother, I haven't had the awesome responsibility for another human being, other than being there for my hubby. A fascinating poem here.

This made me sit up, good poetry does that. Here there's power and depth and Axilea is right, "The norm before the storm" is very meaningful. This is fine writing indeed.
