If peace were always there, if one
Could always find
An August sun
That bronzes a summer's splendored world
And turns
Rivers to jade, and fears
To dormant things of winter's reign--
If all peace could be as simple
As a day
Held fast by earth and sky
And all mankind
Could lie down in the grass
And dream--
If only,
But of course
Hate will always cling to hearts
And mar
A sunny world.
