Summer. Just the word
Smiles,
Re-creates childhood:
Walking home
On dusty country roads,
Detours,
Forced by fate—
Or so we said—
Past ponds, asleep,
Their willow curtains drawn—
And always, somehow,
Falling in—
Just once defying propriety—
Summer snickers
At prude and proper souls.

| Your poem triggers the childhood memories in my heart. I can see the country roads and willow trees in my mind! There are so many childhood memories in all of us, and the most precious are usually equated with carefree summers. Stop into my den when you have a chance, and let me know what you think of my work. |
