A Daddy tells his young daughter about the pending divorce from the child's mother.

(This poem has been put to music.)

Is Divorce Forever?

1st Verse

I took her in my arms and whispered please try to be strong

There is something that I have to say.

It hurts so much to tell you and it seems so very wrong

The time has come for me to go away.

2nd Verse

She trembled in my arms as tears were rolling down her cheeks

And said, do you really have to go?

I thought the way you loved me was forever and for keeps

There is something I just have to know.

Refrain

Daddy, is divorce forever?

And are you gonna live here anymore?

Daddy, is divorce forever?

And will you love me, Daddy, just like before?

3rd Verse

I held her closer to me and spoke softly in her ear

No one can ever take away the past.

And if you ever need me, darling I’ll be there

But I still can hear the question that she asked.

Repeat refrain.

Wow! This one hits home!
My youngest daughter just had a divorce. He was an abusive husband.
It was hard at first but the kids do not worry anymore about daddy coming home and throwing them around like rag dolls. My daughter had enough and i talked to this young man. The real problem was - no Jesus - no hope! AMEN
