I cried all day yesterday
I read of your passing
Twenty-five years ago
We parted with a kiss
I believe we did the right thing
My wife still by my side
Our love grew larger than life
Memories, untold memories
My children had babies
They are such a blast
I’m their hero, they say
Forgetting times past
I knew you remarried
I prayed for your happiness
Struggles in your life
I shall never know
Someday when I pass on
May we meet for a talk?
I hope you forgave me
My wife excused us both
I asked God to forgive me
For often I fantasized
Dreamt we had our own family
With you by my side
I needed to tell you
These things in my mind
Clear the air for good
To just say goodbye
Often I will remember you
Smile, sometimes cry
I’ll feel you in a breeze
I’ll see you in a sunset
I’ll hold tight to your memory
Bye, my love, goodbye
