I DIDN’T KNOW

Home away

I didn’t know that life

Would take such a twist,

A twist, that never twists.

I didn’t know my mother

Would be so harsh to me,

That she in no way ever calls me a son.

I didn’t know, that doorWould get so jammed,

That it wouldn’t openEven after many decades.

I didn’t know that fate

Would at all times be at that devil’s side.

And always strives to push me aside.

I didn’t know that a truthful struggle

Keeps on struggling

Until there is a struggle in itself.

But at last I found

The tinge of life

Even at the cavern

There is a ray of light

And that is with what

You and I stay alive.

Very well written is this heavy-duty angst you have given to us. Good tone, good premise and damn fine writing . . .

So very true, Bhatka. Life is more of a struggle than I had ever imagined it would be but I have found my strength from those struggles and I have found my joy in the growth that they caused. We do need to focus upon the light because it is from that place that we can overcome all adversity. Excellent poem.
Take care,
Sherry
