colors

I wanted to paint the town red

I painted it purple instead

I wanted to change the world

Other plans unfurled.

I hoped to pan some gold

Now I am painting bold

The colors run and flow

I’m quick—I don’t like slow.

A coral reef under the sea

Transparent colors transparent me.

I still have time to paint the town red

And pan some gold.

Maybe I’ll do it today

Tomorrow will still be o.k.
