Imagine If You Will...

A wonderful day on the farm today allowed me to unwind, relax, work, while also appreciate the day. Just a few thoughts from the mountains of Kentucky...I hope you enjoy!

Imagine if you will
a beautiful spring day
one in the month of May
and upon your face
a gentle breeze you feel.

A day as you did dream
just today…I experienced for my self
with a satisfaction so complete
a satisfaction that can’t be bought
not even with modern day wealth
inhaling it all with a peace in my heart
a tiny bit of heaven it did seem.
While I worked hoeing between the rows of corn
sounds all around me began to ring
silent I stood in the garden
for this beauty I must observe
the smell of fresh plowed sod
a wonderful aroma…reminded me that I was home
in a moment a song of magic I did hear
and before my eyes…miracles began to take place
our farm was awakening
mother earth seemed to be giving birth
and a new day was being born.
The locusts were humming high in the trees
singing their good morning tune
chickens were cackling upon their nests
a signal that fresh eggs were arriving soon
the goats lay sunning themselves high upon the grassy hill
new kittens were curiously examining blades of grass
while mama cat was napping for much needed rest
clouds were gathering in the sky above
with a rumble of thunder hinting that rain would arrive soon.
A breeze whispered gently through the trees
as Jake the beagle barked at a rabbit he did smell
beside the barn was old Blue our hound
whimpering and moaning,
and letting out what seemed to be an envious wale
blooms of petunias and marigolds were buzzing with life
while nectar was gathered by the magical honey-bees.
Listening to the water flow gently through the creek
I imagined the smooth time worn stones
and how cool they would feel…
natures spa for tired legs and weary feet
the blue jays chirped from branches just above
feeding the young their worms for the day
while an echo of a lonesome call
came softly from a morning dove
peace consumed me in my garden this day
for God has blessed me with a little bit of Heaven
while living here on His precious Earth…

This is beautiful, Joyce, and I could so easily envision all the things you spoke of. A few days ago a doe and her new fawn were in our back yard. I was trying to sneak out and take a photo of the two of them. The mother turned immediately when I slid the door open and looked at me intently. I thought it was so interesting that even with all of the sounds of the birds chirping and the wind in the willows and ducks on the pond, she could still hear that quiet foreign noise of the door. I stood there watching her and listening to the different sounds of the various birds and thought about how incredibly blessed we are, and sadly, how often we don't take the time to appreciate the beauty in the world around us.

so powerful that you managed to capture the whole day in a wonderful verbal slice and to serve it up for us here as nectar, Joyce. You have been blessed indeed and now have committed this precious moment to page so that it might never fade. I'm sure it never will in your own heart and mind anyways. An attitude of gratitude is a joy to share in and behold. Bless you, TY Kate xx
