Though Faded in this journey of life she may be now,she remains the brightest and sweetest Rose upon the trellis, never losing a petal.
What a beautiful touching description of your Grandma.. Mine loved Roses also, in fact everything that grew in the flower garden. So precious, are they, and the memories we have.
Thank you for this Joyce, it made me smile in recollection.

Very touching write my friend. I love how the faded rose and the elderly woman are an analogy in life. They both are born, allow their beauty to be witnessed by others then they fade into the world beyond. Sad, but touching.
Smiles,

Beautiful, heartfelt write, Joyce; my grandma loved roses, too. I smell them, still think of her.
It's funny how certain smells bring the memory of loved ones back. For grandma, it was roses. For mom, it was L'Air du Temps perfume. And for daddy: Old Spice. All pleasant smells, smells that make me smile.
Very well penned, Joyce; brava!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D |

When I wrote the short-story "A broken heart in a broken house" it was primarly a tribute to my grandmother, perhaps the only woman that really did loved me.
Thanks for the poem and for bringing all those memories back.
