               A Cleansing.....

The hour is late, the wind is blowing,
tears are falling through angel eyes.
Skies are blackened, stars are hiding,
trees sway to the beat of hallowed sighs.

First a light sprinkle, growing to a trickle,
ponds and lakes welcome replenishing life.
Wetting the whistle of beast and man,
setting aside all the struggle and strife.

Every time these angel tears fall,
they gently covet all in its path.
Squirrels find safety high in trees,
birds come out, enjoying a bath.

Bunny's scurry for warmth and safety,
while kitties gather under the bed.
Windows rattle, glass begins to break,
suddenly a feeling of horror and dread.

Wind picks up speed, trees bending low,
ice pellets bouncing when hitting the ground.
Roof explodes in a thunderous roar,
as baseball size hail hurls earth bound.

Puppies protected in their carrier cage,
barking and sitting with eyes opened wide.
Extra bottled water and extra food,
time for all to huddle, time for all to hide.

As quckly as it began, it all came to an end,
and the ground outside was glittering bright.
Street lights turned on and cast a hue,
pastel colors yellow, blue, against the white.

A strange silence overcame the new landscape,
a crispness, a cleansing, no prints to be seen.
Embracing the moment and moving forward,
a muffled chirping engulfed the new scene.

Angels now smiling for the gift they presented,
watching diligently at this earthly renewal.
Offering a cleansing from God to heal,
as we take time to say thanks for his jewel.

Karen,
You recreate the ominous feel of the moment. It feels adventurous, too. We lose power every year. Not looking forward to winter. Hugs,
