                  Pupcorn......

All Hallows Eve is breaching the horizon,
the day all souls ascend to God's throne.
The journey long, the wait an eternity,
the time is near, the direction to hone.

The sun shines bright as the clouds part,
leaving a beam of light for all to see.
Hexagrams, pentagrams, witches broom,
chanting, singing, shaving cream on a tree.

Ghosts and goblins, children dressed up,
mimicking whatever their little hearts desire.
Candy corn, caramel, rich chocolate bars,
ballerina's, pumpkins, birds on a wire.

A few more days, festivities begin,
as night grows longer and days dim.
Witches brew and kettles of spells,
hearts are fluttering with a child's whim.

Fire crackling in the fireplace,
offering an aura for that one holy night.
Trick or treat bags and a glowing torch,
kitties and puppies huddling with fright.

The season of mystery and magical spells,
imaginations rise with the brightest light.
Parties for adults and children alike,
parties for puppies, what a fanciful delight.

Puppy pupcorn and puppy ice cream too,
party hats and plenty of costumes.
Treats, biscuits, rawhide bones,
the room filled with puppy perfumes.

Chasing goats, ducks, and each other,
yapping at horses, where are the ear plugs.
Poodles, huskies, lamas, and hens,
even yapping at creepy crawling bugs.

Rolling in grass and ball playing too,
a day of fun, a day out in the sun.
Tired, worn out, wanting to sleep,
had plenty of food and plenty of fun.

What we have kept secret from them,
they will soon have sisters to contend.
Yorkie's when born will soon have a home,
now I pray all my babies will blend.

         Happy Howlween!!!

A poem of joy and frolic but especially, verisimilitude. You've taken reality to a place of artistry. Bravo.

BTW- The Yorkies have my permission to bite anyone who laughs at them.

Your new Yorkie will blend because they're lovable, playful bits of spikie fluff that loves everything and everyone. Years ago I mid-wifed a litter of Cavalier King Charles puppies that were born on November one, the day after Halloween. As they came out we named them after The Adams Family and kept Wednesday. A year latter, when we adopted Harry, our loving and lovable Yorkie, Wednesday's mommy, Becky, Wednesday and Harry were all the best of friends.
Very nice poem, Karen. Mark
