In the photograph Samantha (Sami) is on the right and Victoria (Vickie) is on the left.
Mom and Dad were talking,
about a journey for us to take.
Clothing and toys to make ready,
lots of good food and sweets to make.
Blankets and bedding, bag of biscuits too,
we were mighty tired, hearing all this talk.
Flea collars, leashes, vitamins, and dog food,
all we wanted was to take a nice, long walk.
Mom and Dad packed the RV with all we had,
filled up the water tank, aired up the tires.
Kitties go in first, high spots they claim,
leaving scratches everywhere, chewing on wires.
The kitties ate the catnip Mom stuffed in toys,
but it kept them busy and no one got sick.
We had our chew toys and plush soft ones too,
waiting for our car seat really does the trick.
Now the two of us, we always rule supreme,
up the steps we go to pick our window seat.
Flowers, trees, cars, busses, horses, and cattle,
everything we get to see is always such a treat.
Bouncing and swaying to the rhythmic motion,
sure makes our eyelids slowly downward slide.
We wonder how far we are traveling this time,
or when Dad will stop so we can go outside.
A rest stop ahead complete with picnic benches,
slower, slower, slower, until a place to park.
We see a patch of green for us to play and run,
greeting other pups, but too soon it is getting dark.
Mom sat on the picnic bench with two red balls,
for Dad to practice pitching and for us to chase.
Other pups came over and joined us in play,
having fun, it was so sad to leave this place.
Time to climb those steps again, turn on the lights,
as we settle down and have something good to eat.
This day was exciting, with so much for us to see,
tomorrow, up early, with new advemtire to greet.

I enjoyed reading this poem about your pets traveling with you. It reminded me of time we used to take our two cats traveling with us. Did your cats get any exercise at the rest stops?
God bless you,

|Absolutely full of fun! I have never read a poem from the point of view of a dog, so this was a first and enlightening and wonderful poetic discovery...

|Karen, at first I thought this write would be about two dogs finding their final resting place. It was such a delight to read this piece. Ahat a pleasant journey you all had together! One thing really stands out in your work and it is the love for your family pets. Great photo by Robert, he really caught the enthused dogs ready to go. I look forward to reading more of your work.
Dorothy, who found her way back to her 'lil den! :)

|LOVE it !!
Rare and precious find, this is. Seldom see a nostalgia piece that
is truly poetic. Especially one about beloved friends who happen to be animals. You put us right beside the darlings.
Whoops! I forgot. Sami and Vickie wrote this with their own paws. Please convey my congratulations to them for the great poetry debut.
Had a wonderful time. Thank you!!
