On a blanket at the beach.
I heard a familiar voice.
"I'm drowning, I can't breath.
Help me, save me," He cried.
I heard his words in my head.
I saw visions of a child,
Native American by birth.
As he sunk beneath the lake
Gasping, alone, and afraid.
I saw from his eyes, as
The water covered my head,
I wailed his words of death.
"I'm drowning, I can't breath.
Help me, save me," He cried.
Watery grave and tears as
His life abandoned his body.
And yet, it's all in my head.
"What an odd day dream," I said.
Two hundred miles away
My husband, soon to be,
Lay crushed in the streets
Lungs collapsed, drowning in blood,
Saying the words that I heard
Inside my head.
