How aware must I become
I look for the silence between the notes

I listen to the Dao and Jesus who both say

Bend and be straight
Have little and gain
Yield and overcome

Even though there is no silence in the world I make my own

I know I can change myself, by changing my awareness of myself

Yet, there are always others whom I admire and seek their approval

But they can douse my flame more quickly than I started it

How do we keep from being affected by others without becoming isolated

For all that we learn, no matter how wise or positive it seems there remains the impossible dream

Dreams are only made possible if one pays attention to its message and act upon it.

A very thoughtfful write. Thank you Eileen!

A million-dollar question, Eileen. As if such things can be measured in coin. Balance is indeed hard to maintain. The scales are so often weighted to one side or the other. Still, all living things seek equilibrium. The times when we are poised on the axis are usually those that are in sync with our own inner compass. What blissful joy they hold but seem to last but a moment in time. Absolutely stunning introspection, Eileen!

A still small voice speaks with much power and soothing wisdom inside the lines of DREAMS AWARENESS. Spirituality by its nature in this world reflects often unsettling paradoxes. Yet the the kind of inner harmony and vision of knowledge demonstrated here elevates one above the schizophrenic deluge. Not an easy balancing act to achieve or maintain but one always worth the effort.

Excellent write, Eileen; very well done!

You would have laughed at me last night: saw an Elvis Presley impersonator last night, and wow, he was good! Looked and sounded exactly like Elvis; it was kinda' spooky, really, but he put on one whale of an entertaining show! I tried not to look at his swiveling pelvis, but wow, it was hard NOT to! He had me sweating! LOL I can see why Elvis had such a huge impact on his female fans; he had them screaming!! LOL

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

There are no easy answers Eileen. You and Jude are reaching into deep waters and provoking a lot of thought!

I believe all people need to believe in something other than themselves. We make our choices and we live with the consequences of those choices.

There is an irrefutable rule in this universe - seedtime and harvest. What we plant we reap.

History has given us many examples of those we can believe in, or fashion ourselves after. Although there are many forces that try to discredit or re-write Him, only one was resurrected from the dead and offers His creation more than we could ever imagine.

I choose Him!

LOL At Andy, yeah Knee's up mother brown too....;)

Seriously though, the only way to not be affected by others without becoming isolated is too carry disposable cotton balls to stick in our ears! No, yeah it dosent work either, um, Im still figuring that out to Queen, you make an incredible point. We can say all we like, think all we like and be as positive all we like, but blow me down, ppl will always affect us, and the only reeeel way I can percieve of shaking it off so it dosent become overpowing, is to decipher between the useful affects, and the non useful affects, discarding the latter.
And, that take alot of talking to oneself too, plus a WHOOOOLE lotta help from Above.
Top write as always

I sometimes believe, Eileen, that we think a little too much on the spirituall and cosmos of our enviroment. It tends to make life not much fun, especially when we try to understand how to do all this and not "affect" others. If we live by our convictions we should not be all that concerned with seeking others praise or condemnation. I like good old fashioned "thinking" poems and you have given us one in this beaut.
