How perfectly you have captured that wonderful part of the day when life seems to float softly through the open windows. My favorite lines are those in the second to the last stanza...
Oh, and I love the play on words with your usage of "sheer" in the second stanza... brilliant!

| That interim between sleep and wakefulness is the instant moment that prepares us for our day. You've shared one of your morning experiences as you wake up to a new beginning--and what a joy it is to wake up every day to some new knowledge, treat, activity, or surprise. Nice write. |

"A song sticks to my sheets" ...now that's a brilliant line, that and the last grouping. Your calling suits you well.
and as a side note: OH, the beauty and majesty of words! They are free, we capture them, hone them, and they in turn set us free...only some times, as you know, they turn a bit wild, and will not be wielded. and by a Word, the world was, and even IS created. Write on...

| One's own soul-song is often, perhaps, most clearly heard in the between-times of conscious-states. I love the way you paint the heart responding to its call and "owning" it. And I love your finale... sadly, that moment is all too often lost the minute we are truly awake and quickly pressed into the waiting demands of our material day... Epiphanic and inspiring! Thank you, Kate xx |

It's the style, elegant and simple, and the usual excellent word choice I've come to expect from you that carry this poem beautifully along to its rich ending.

Axilea - Enjoyed this gentle poem of awakening on more than one level.
Especially liked the images and sound of these lines:
I try to resist the calling
Behind the light amber curtain
As if resisting sheer desire.
A song sticks to my sheets
Changes the rhythm of my heart.
I wake up to the raw beauty
Of my own calling.
