Our Swing Tree

Our Swing Tree

Walk through the clearing to where the edge meets the wood
Follow the fresh trail keeping low and quiet like you should
Stick to the path until you reach the L shaped rock
When you hear the laughter you’ve arrived at the stalk

Tummy flips in your eyes it shows
The closer you get the more it grows
Higher one climbs the longer you drop
Must be impossible getting to the top

Looking at each other with faces that say nope
Who’s going to shimmy up and hang the rope?
All the guys take one step back
Lucky you the twines in the sack

Like a kitten with claws digging deep
I snail up the tree using all four feet
Getting to the branch where the rope should be strung
Tied a tight knot slid back down the cord was hung

Now we begin to have some fun
You went up your number one
Pull it back as far as you can
Flew around like a summer fan

So much fun had no one before
Swinging until our hands were sore
Such a cool swing tree certainly made us stronger
When we got home our arms felt 2 inches longer

And if you tie more knots in the hanging rope, makes for easier for climbing :o) Rope swings are the best thrill-rides for kids...who needs Disney World? Enjoyed...teased my memories!

This poem reminds me so vividly of the days when a day like this filled your soul with the warmth of a simple, pleasurable uncomplicated moment of fun and those who shared it with you. (The tree is perfect for this poem!) Great poem.

You awakened some wondrous childhood memories here, my friend. I should try that again, but I better have the paramedics, on standby!

I did it! I loved every minute of the youthful years that I spent outside. From dawn to dusk we had adventure and creativity on our minds.
Love and blessing,

You should try swinging over water, makes you wet. Lovely write with all the imagery complete...
