My dear friend has lost his heart to a young woman struggling to overcome
the tragedy of a past abusive relationship and to open her heart with
trust to a new man offering the hope and promise of an enduring love.
They both are in my thoughts and prayers.

Abuse and no respect
Drove both so wide apart
The hurt of losing love
Wounding deep her aching heart
Her loving soul had suffered much
With abuse and stress and hurt
And reached a sure finality
Her ex treating her like dirt
A new man brought his friendship
That grew in strength in years
And blossomed into love
Through the ache and pain of tears
He stepped into the loving role
Of a kind and caring friend
To help her face the pain and sorrow
Of a bitter, bitter end
As friends, her life was open
To his caring for her fears
He wanted only to hold her hand
And to help her catch her tears
She asked for time to heal
And to overcome the past
He learned humility and patience
For nothing big comes fast
He learned to give her time and space
And to let her bruised heart know
That his care and understanding
Would help their love to grow
God answers righteous prayers
Of that he's come to know
A time to heal is all she needs
His love will make it grow.
They're taking time and spending days
In sharing things they do
Praying for guidance in their ways
And waiting for a healing cue
A sure and enduring love needs time
To send its roots in deep
He prays for God to heal her heart
Each night as he goes to sleep
He knows for sure their days will come
God's put that in his mind
It's a treasure that sits awaiting
For only them to find
God answers righteous prayers
Of that he's come to know

Friendship grows to enduring love
With patience and due care
And time to heal will change it all
God knows it's only fair
And so he prays once more
For the healing of her heart
And looks across the distance
And sees they'll never part
