                                                                                           Let's share a mountain sunrise
                                                                                            Waves crashing on our shore
                                                                                            A winter sun, a summer breeze
                                                                                           Church bell chimes and more
                                                                                           The majesty of Hotel del
                                                                                            Desert blooms to stir the heart
                                                                                            Star of India and Mission Bay
                                                                                             From which we'll never part

                                                                                             Gas Lamp Quarter and Old Town
                                                                                             Bike paths and Naval might
                                                                                             Convention space and dancing clubs
                                                                                              To keep us up all night
                                                                                             Little Italy and the Chargers
                                                                                              Surfing we adore
                                                                                              We've got Mission de Acala
                                                                                              Microbrews and more

                                                                                             We're America's finest city
                                                                                             Filled with sun and fun and glow
                                                                                             We're living in a paradise
                                                                                             And never want to go
                                                                                          The glory of San Diego
                                                                                          And its world famous zoo
                                                                                            The charm of next door Mexico
                                                                                            Just waiting here for you

                                                                                             The magnets of San Diego are
                                                                                             Horse racing on the turf
                                                                                            Golf courses everywhere
                                                                                              Hang gliding by the surf
                                                                                             The Philharmonic and rock bands
                                                                                              Marathon runs galore
                                                                                            Seaport Village and The Kiss
                                                                                              Nestled by the shore

                                                                                             The Midway Carrier Museum
                                                                                             Balboa Park to play
                                                                                             Top Gun jets a'flying
                                                                                             Mission Valley to shop all day
                                                                                             Dazzling sunsets and fire pits
                                                                                             Clean beaches just like new
                                                                                             Three million neighbors enjoying life
                                                                                              Yet always time for you

                                                                                             We're America's finest city

What a fantastic description. This would be a great one for the travel bureaus that feature San Diego tours. Richard, you've found your niche. Your poems just seem to get better all the time. The words just flow and your recitation was great. Well done, Richard!!

Moving to San Diego from the Chicago area, with what I thought was a business, we lived there for about two years and it was lovely... Except, the business turning out to be fraudulent, try to find a job there. We finally had to move to the los Angeles area to find work. Now, about thirty years later, I still think of San Diego as the loveliest city I've ever seen... for a visit. But it did get us from Chicago to Southern California, so thank you San Diego. Good poem, though. Mark.
