SONG BOOK
Certain songs resonate in your life; places you've been, lovers you've loved, things seen along the highway of your life, and the song of your own life may resonate with others through the keynote of some special song which everyone remembers. With pleasure and some small degree of vanity, I am using my own modified sonnet form, the “Sonnerick” in this series. I hope my gentle readers may sing along with me. Remember this song made famous by Willie Nelson |

“On the Road Again”
by Ted L Glines
I've roamed the world and talked to people twice,
from China to the San Francisco bay,
and somehow never found a place to stay
for moving on was just a throw of dice,
this seeking searching craving something nice
which stayed beyond the grasp of my today,
I only sought to find some magic way;
to fill the empty sorrow would suffice.
I thought I'd found my goal in Monterey,
but she was spawn of monsters in her heart,
I ran away to forests of the north,
seeking something softly - love or art,
but never finding you to shine my day,
so I am always running - going forth.
I've never found a place to stay or be,
no nest of comfort ever did I see,
so I've moved from place to place
and with no finish to this race,
you've always been out there in front of me.

| God love Willie, and that's both a statement and a prayer. You captured his apparent sentiments well, Ted. "I've never found a place to stay or be..." How appropriate--who you are and what your problems are tend to stay the same no matter where you go next......Jerry |

WOW - I do love this Ted. It's a great write, and the best picture of Willie I've seen to date. I'm a Willie Nelson fan and On the Road Again is my favorite of his along with All the Girls I've Loved Before. BRAVO my dear friend.
Hugs,
Marcia |

I laughed when I read the title and the intro for this one...I am a big willie fan and have been for a long time and guess what the ring tone on my cell phone is...On The Road Again"
As for this poem I can soooo hear Mr. Nelson belting this one out.

I haven't found yet that place too, to be or to stay, maybe I was born a dry leaf that the capricious wind takes to there and there never letting it to come to a place call home.
Willie would be so proud of you, even if you happens to be a renegade Californian consorting with all those heehaw Texans.
