Art "Ascension Of The Soul"
By Gilbert Williams

Quiet Times
By La Belle Rouge

the quiet times,
no one to talk to
no need to entertain anyone
but myself….golden moments
when my thoughts embrace
realities that have disappeared
on wings of time, like spaceships
risen into the forgotten infinite
or vast star-enlightened evenings
when my aching heart anticipates
mysteries yet to be unveiled

these quiet times
when I know there is more to life
than this present pain and strife
more to me than what I can see
the dialogue between mind and spirit
reassures me that flesh is transient
and therefore enables me to endure
all the weaknesses, the adversities
as a watcher who is reaching for,
perfecting with such long suffering,
that which has always been eternal

How the flesh can mask such quietness of soul and spirit at times, Belle, but how infinitely precious the moments that we can steal aside from the press of material life in order to engage and sustain our REAL inner being with even the hint of such profound eternal truths. As the flesh wears away (and all that goes with it) the spirit shines brighter and becomes released to fully appreciate the bigger picture... at least, that has been my experience when very close to death at one point. Nothing can compare with the assurance of such things. Beautifully confident in tone and so thoughtfully well-expressed. xx

"our journey is a spiritual journey through life in a human body, then we depart the human form and continue our divine journey" - quiet time provides the opportunity to assess and amaze ourselves with the beauty of one phase of the journey and to speculate the wonder of the next - Belle, your poetic grasp of the human emotion and spirit is artistic grace my dear friend - I wish you love and peace - Jon Michael

I have been fortunate to have quiet time most of my life to contemplate my life and existence. it is good you are able to have that now after what you have suffered.

a poem that demonstrates the poet's
ability to rise above pain and disappointment
and see beyond to the bigger eternal picture;
splendidly said, Belle.

Listen to the silence of your heart (a poem I wrote a while back this year) When we listen to the silence or quiet, we learn so much about our inner being.
Lovely work as always, Belle,

Quiet times can be a wonderful distraction to the clutter of this worlds living but if too much quiet they can also give us too much time to think and dwell....I guess the trick is to find a balance....

You et this up masterfully, La Belle. I just love it when the poetry veers into the mysteries which surround and infuse us. And it seems pain is needed for the mysteries to be fully understood. Good writing.
