Midnight Sky

Thoughts on our place in the universe

Dark and clear the midnight sky
With a thousand stars to view
Each buring like our sun so bright
But so very far away we knew.

A billion suns in our galaxy alone,
A billion galaxies in the universe so vast,
Moving at the greatest velocity known;
More distant than our minds can grasp.

In this universe of time and space
On a small planet orbiting a star
We question and ponder our place
As no intelligence contacted from afar.

We are alone for a great expance,
Perhaps in the universe itself unique
With a duty to survive and to advance
And discover the mystery of life we seek

I was drawn to this poem by your opening summary as I, too, write about the mysteries and magic of the Universe. I found your bio to be very interesting and inspiring and look forward to reading some newly posted poems and stories.

Beautiful! ~"With a duty to survive and to advance/And discover the mystery of life we seek"~ that is exactly what i think is what we should do! Instead of going around killing each other... Lovely! :)

The mysteries that make us think, explore, then grow. Thanks for reminding me.

A good pondering. Just think, the stars that we believe we see may no longer exist. When we view the midnight sky, we're really looking into the past!

Love & Light always and in all ways,
