The lady

With sails fully furled,
Moonlight beaming down on the length of her,
So under her spell was I,
I smiled at her and it was then I began to talk to the moon.

I said to her,
“Together we have ridden many a sea,
Boringly calm, Or storm tossed terror,
Still, my dear we rode together.
Then and now I love you for the freedom you brought,
We were what each other sought.

Time flows, now you are in other's care,
They will treat you well I'm sure,
My lady, my friend's name was, Sailing Vessel,
“Three Hour Tour“

The photo you used complimented your poem...and this poem had a serene, haunting quality to it. Your imagery and telling were right on, and I will remember it as one of my most favorite poems.

Walt, how many times I need to tell you, lil'brother, not to bother the moon because there's a man there which little children like to talk to?
But as an old hand from the seas I can't say that I ever talked to the moon, calm or stormy weather found me in the engine-room.

Sounds like marvelous freedom, my friend.

I often talk to the moon as well, and when my dogs are with me, I often howl at it.
