My Heart Bleeds

My heart now bleeds a bitter tear,
I am enveloped by sadness and fear.
You say that I can’t love enough,
But I fear I loved you too much.

I give all hoping for all in return,
But I still haven’t seemed to learn.
Some people ignore their own issues you see,
And if change is involved, they want it to be me.

I can adapt to a certain degree,
But if I give in completely then I will lose me.
I sometimes try to please too much I’ll tell,
But I am a person, and have my needs as well.

Words of wisdom on a theme experienced by many Walt. Your commentary is quite understated, depleted of all rage and tension, which in a curious way makes this poem a little stronger. Being who you are first is essential. You have to live up to your own expectations before living up to others.
Good luck with the quit smoking thing.

Walt love this.....don't lose yourself trying to please others. Be yourself you can only change yourself and your own thinking about certain situations and people. Thanks for sharing this.

Superb poem Walt! It's so sad that some of us seek to change those we love, and makes me wonder what we love in the first place if we
expect makeovers...Hope it gets resolved in your favor...

Oh Wally - a reach for stability, maybe? Hope you're doing good. Like the yearning here. Almost makes you sound you're a real person... ;-)

Wow! Well stated and true. It's often a tradeoff with vague sidelines or borders. Enjoyed.

My such sadness is these emotional lines...I don't think you can ever love too much..it is when one does not love enough the heart may bleed...May your heart be healed!

Oh dear, a heart wrenching write for sure Walt. One thing, we all must love ourselves first before we can love or be loved.
You are an amazing man, never forget that.
Much peace, love, and light,
