Can't play the Blues

Maybe it was hunger,
Maybe child support.
Or that fine I had to pay,
In the traffic court.
Sadly then I had to use,
My very last resort.

My old and trusty guitar,
Had gotten me by before.
Not from getting paid to play,
But through the Pawn Shop door.

I took her in with much remorse,
And got my usual loan.
I didn't really want to cry,
So all I did was moan.

Leaving, I turned and said to the clerk,
"I'm glad you're not in my shoes,
But 'till a guitar's been in a Pawn Shop,
It can't really play the Blues."

"The Guitar And The Pawn Shop" sings and cries, and is heard by seraphic that play in the skies...

An alert that abounds in wisdom, and paints sentiments of pain and sorrow... "The Guitar And The Pawn Shop" glows on constellation Blues.

In respect and apprciation,

This is excellent work. It is true...a guitar cannot play the real blues unless it has been in a pawn shop.

AWE! This was really a GRRREAT Heart-breaking Poem Walt, I could feel your pain and your heart beating hard!
This reminds me of what Paul said one day, I will NOT pawn my guitar! EVER and I know he would if he had too, just like you did! but, no blues will be heard from that one till YOU get it BACK :)
So, that Guitar is your trust resort Eh, it's happened how many times? An angel owned that guitar once! I am thinking...
WRITE ON!

Hope all is getting EASIER "NOW"! and if not, I hope the answer is just around the corner!

:)))))))))) Smilin through the rain here, Walt! Can just here this done in Blues-style, too. Raw-to-the-bone honest emotion, yet with a backbone of resiliance and humour, too. And it sure does get us through those tough times... And now the Baby can play, eh? And then some, I'll bet. Love this, thank you. Kate xx

Your words are truer than you can ever imagine. Let me see, was it Ledbelly or David Bromberg who was quoted as saying, "you have to suffer if you want to sing the blues".....

Be always safe,
Karen
