Yesterdays Gone
I look around seeking a familiar sound
Of a voice that fancied yesterdays gone
The subtle whispers in the wind of better times
With remembrance of the old drive -in movie screens
Where chivalry seemed larger than any form of mysterious, pleasure unseen
And yet a fresh pounce of a once a pond a yesterday
Where life was full of play
When love, romance and more simple things were all that there were
In a world that seemed to have vanished before my eyes
A smooth, refreshing surprise of the sound of old Blue-Eyes
Reminding me of yesterdays, when Frank ruled the World of many girls
My eyes gazed upon a gentle man, mature in age, as he was
Touching my tenderness with a golden glove full of promises never seen or heard
Not one word
As I envisioned a mind as fresh and exciting, revealing days of golden times
I could only hope to have experienced in my youthfulness
The comfort and presence of this familiar voice
I simply had no choice
I followed the sound of dazzling energy into an old Lauren Bacall, Humphrey Bogart Movie
By a man I knew had experienced those times
How divine!
For me to find, a man from those days when character and charm
Were worn on every man’s arm,
When love took a girl way beyond, That familiar sound of a voice that fancied yesterdays gone
