Seal Slaughter by the Numbers
[[?xx::x[[S1:first_name]]x::Dear Friend,::Dear [[S1:first_name]],]]
After all my years of documenting the commercial seal slaughter, it's still so heartbreaking to witness the cruelty. It’s especially difficult when you take a hard look at the numbers. Facts don’t lie.
For example:

Here's another one:
Countless baby seals already have died because sea ice is rapidly melting, and yet the Canadian government still allows sealers to slaughter what surviving pups they can find. In fact, they have set this year’s harp seal kill quota at an extreme 400,000 seals.
In just days, seals face a massive slaughter in numbers too big to ignore. Let's show the government and its fishing industry the power we have in our numbers.
Thanks for doing your part for baby seals.

We

We, as in those that won’t,
Don’t want to hear or see,
We, as presumed innocence,
The all of us that don’t,

Neither have hurt, or killed a creature,
Have watched in horror and in shock,
Brutalized our souls, our senses,
Yet silence is our true st feature,

We that could, but will not see,
Excuses make for what they’ve seen,
Blame others for brutality,
This is called complicity,

We as the species Homo sapiens,
If a court of other regions,
Our silence will condemn,
Would call us, homo rapines,

We that in silence idly watch, and see,
Not speak, not want to hear,
Like the monkeys three,
We are complicit, in complicity,©30/03/2012

It is shameful that these atrocities are still allowed to happen...We are lucky to have people like you Jasmin to loudly voice the reality of what is going on. I admire your compassion and your courage to speak out...

Jasmin, it is a shame that you are not the conscious of all men my dear friend -- never, never would should atrocities exist -- I wish you love and peace my dear friend -- Jon Michael

Blame others for brutality,
This is called complicity

I sadly witness this complicity far too often with homeless vets and abandoned pets, and so many people just walk right on by them, as if they were invisible.

If our society today won't even help vets and pets, I doubt that the wild creatures of the world have much of a chance. So many don't seem to care at all that seals, wild horses, and wolves are being slaughtered non-stop these days.

i will never no matter what
accept this madness and cruelty - never!
All of us owe you thanks, Jasmin, for your courage
and your fight for the rights of the innocent
