As They Pierced His Palm

A reflective poem about the ultimate sacrifice of Christ

Did my Jesus first cry out
When they pierced His palm
Or was it when they crowned His brow with thorns
That His heart burst beyond internal mourning

Did He first cry out
When that soldier lunged into all tomorrows
Splitting the universe wide
By piercing Jesus' side with a rusty spear

Did my Jesus first cry out
As His eye fell upon His mother
In her devastation beyond grief’s capacity
Was it then that He released that first sorrow-filled gasp
Which echoes still througout eternity

Or did My Lord first cry out
When He felt the full weight
of our sinful world
Contained in the Cross of Calvary

Let it not be, Lord
That you first cried out for me
When you, at the dawn of creation
Learned of my iniquity
Toward my brother, sister, or for any child
My failure to care
Let it not be, Lord
For love I refused to give or share

May my life lay on the side
Where the balance helped make it right
The side where your Father
With all His might
Decided, even as they pierced your palm,
That your life
Was the only sufficient price
For mankind

Fantastic! I can visually see and feel His pain. It is nothing like the real experience but your poem took me to a more spirtual level. You gave me MORE of an appreciation for our LORD.

I appreciate YOU for that!

GOD BLESS YOU Debra!

And what a price only Jesus could pay for a debt we had no ability to amend. For only if a seed is planted can it multiply into the earthen vessels meant to contain it. Thank you Sista Joy. Have a blessed spring.

Thank God that my small worries that make me cry! Don't come close to the many who beg for peace. Many blessing to you. Thank you for the willingness to do his work by spreading the one thing we take for granted. Forgiveness!

I wish I had the 'right' words to describe the impact of this upon my heart and soul, but I don't have any words. YOU said them all.

Thank you for such an inspirational write. There is a lot to think about - personally.
