glacial retreat
forever glacial
crags and stone
emerge in graceful sleep
silent in their slumber
valley deep green, smothered slopes
bulky cloud shaped visions
built in a direction
of the fickle wind
high on the great divide
forever glacial
high above timberline
once silky green forests stood
now dormant in their red death
once glorious, past
now shrouded, veil of intent
as the human beings went
wandering the grand abyss
desert abounds, glacial retreat
forever glacial
mountainous ascent, rocky journeys
civilizations descent, crushing
cycles of nature deviate
natural occurrences unfold
embattled by change
corrupted and besieged, separated
the human beings withdraw
from natures spirit in glacial retreat

| another sharply imaged write, Dale, which makes me draw breath... as the whole of nature does when the air thins above those timberlines. But what of the unnatural deforestations and ravishings of nature that occur through man-made desecrations? Those are the raw and ugly wounds which surely cause the earth to petrify with shame, pain and lament. Our hearts freeze alongside Nature's at the very thought. And those icy fingers are ever at our door, threatening wholesale destruction if we refuse to act to halt, ironically, global warming. Love the clarity and starkness of your language here. xx |
