self-aware

an all encompassing aura
engulfs my very being
as shadows of youth pass over
defining the face of age
thunder storms roam the night

I hold out hope in stormy skies
and open my heart wide
will the rain cleanse?

I can't begin to find words
to describe feelings denied
lost deep inside
there is no definition
or any true understanding
 
I hold out hope on sunlit days
and open my eyes
will I see?

an all knowing wind
howls and whispers of change
yet I can never reach the summit
perceived in my inner thoughts
just dreams never materialized

I hold out hope in turbulent waves
and open my hands apart
will love hold?
