Invasion of the Pumpkins

Pumpkin poem...

Invasion of the Pumpkins

I have lived in many towns before
But never in a place
That has a pumpkin face
Guarding every door

In local grocery stores
Pumpkins lie on floors

Piled mountain high
In bountiful scores

To make pumpkin pie
Or pumpkin soup
Or Jack O’lanterns
To be scooped

And on the mischief night of Halloween
Pumpkin lanterns brightly beam
Lighting street scenes with a gleam
So trick-or-treaters can be seen

Dressed as ghosts, ghouls and witches green
In search of sweets and candy beans
Yet everywhere you go beware
The Jack O’lantern's scary scare

But soon the spooky grins
Of carved pumpkin skins sink in
As they rot and get old
Ending in the bin as mould
