Your Eyes

When I look into the sky I see you.
A star shining in the dark northern sky,
Bright, beautiful yet beyond my reach.
But there is only fear in your eyes.
Fear to live...to be...to exist in a world
where the beauty of love can sing
To find a way beyond the need
a desire for acceptance brings.
No hope can chase the shadows away.
Your light blazes in the darkened sky,
Yet it only reflects the life of the man
That the heart has long denied.
I hold out my hand and cry to you,
come forth, leave your sorrows behind.
But the mold has tightened, the stage is set,
no peace in this life will you find.
I'll watch with sadness as the light shines on,
a greatness that will never be known.
And pray before death your heart will have learned
that your need was for truth to be shown.
From that truth a salvation is born,
from the burden of shallow minds.
To a life that was felt and wondered upon,
neither hidden away nor blind.
Find the light that lies deep inside you
Let it shine through your mortal pain
Again live in peace as was meant to be
Build your dream from where ashes now lay
