I just love June 21st, it marks the Summer solstice and beginning of summer fun.

Summer Solstice 2012

By Amber "V" Moonstone

6/21/12

The sun burned so strong,
It was radiant orange
blazing a solar day
longer than the quiet night.

Summer Solstice
Nature's way of new beginnings,
offering us a long day of sunshine
to bring us peace when the sun goes down.

Watching the brilliant sunset,
drop over the ocean,
ending the longest day
I felt a peaceful wave of energy.

The ocean glistened as if it were filled
with lusturous diamonds and pearls.
My heart lept with joy,
As the sun was finally setting.

The moon was a sliver of silver,
radiating it's own magic
resting softly among the fluffy clouds.
The summer has begun!

Let  your days be filled with joyful play,
toil not until the break of eve,
but find yourself a playmate
that will be your every dream.

Sit among the flowers,
relish in the newly cut grass of summer,
soak your feet in Nature's healing bath,
and grab yourself another stab at life.

Don't hide among the clouds,
smile as if you know something
that no one else knows,
and then find yourself knowing your truth.

Sit among the fields of lilies,
smell the intoxicating aroma
let your feelings be heard,
and say "I love you" when you mean it.

Reap what you sow,
plant seedlings of ideas,
so they will grow into fruition,
on this Summer Solstice evening.

I love the openness and freedom expressed. All I hear on the weather is that people are suffering from the heat and keep covered with sunscreen or we'll all get melanoma. It was so cold where I grew up that it was only by summer solstice that the pool warmed up where it was comfortable to swim in. I relished summer and being free from the routine of school.

Your poem took me back to those carefree days.

The sun is high above us
shining down upon the land and sea,
making things grow and bloom.
Great and powerful sun,
we honor you this day
and thank you for your gifts.
Ra, Helios, Sol Invictus, Aten, Svarog,
you are known by many names.
You are the light over the crops,
the heat that warms the earth,
the hope that springs eternal,
the bringer of life.
We welcome you, and we honor you this day,
celebrating your light,
as we begin our journey once more into the darkness.

My prayer for you and this beautiful poem you honor of our summer solstice Amber... love's new beginnings... beautiful!

Love and Light

"Love, light, and bountiful beauty. God and Goddess, bring them to me. On this Midsummer day, we thank you for. Everything you've done, and more. Bless all on every Litha. May the God and Goddess always be with ya!"
