Grief

Grief by AdeS 1998 (c)

A pain and sadness run through my mind
A hollowing that is and is not kind
That permeates through the threads of my time
For I have lost my father.

There is an emptiness not just in my heart
An indifference to life to love to art
Where the voice gives no sound and I don’t feel a part
I have so lost my father.

I can’t see his face or hear his voice
Nor remember the things over which he rejoiced
All I can say is that if I had a choice
I would not have lost my father.

I know he lives on with a watchful eye
And I’m sure he is with me when I cry
I even knew it was his time to die
But it still hurts to have lost my father.

The hurt and the sorrow we will overcome
And soon joyous memories will overrun
But until then, there rises a dark sun
For I have lost my father.

Your effort to write and publish this poem shows how special your father was for you. Ode to a good father. Keep it up, Sandie.

I grieved the loss of my father too,
but I accepted him in God's Hands, and have the memories of him in my mind and my heart.

This is sad....but I'm sure he's at a happy place now.
