A Great Day

life's experiences help our souls to grow

A Great Day

One day my soul was progressing,
but it became restless to the slow speed of its progression.
It seemed that the tempests that life brought to it were weighing it down,
and from this the speed of its ascension was altered.

My soul asked the sun how it could grow faster,
and the sun just stood there and did not answer.
It then asked the wind,
but the wind just continued on its way.

At a later time on that same day my mind and bones and skin walked to a nearby farm,
and there a farmer fertilized and cultivated his crops.
The crops felt the steel of the hoe and the coarseness of its food.

High in the grey sky a cloud opened its breast, like a mother nursing her new born,
it offered a drink of its water to the field,
and the crops ceased then to yearn and danced with the winds leading embrace.

Just as man is nourished from food and drink then so the crops were nourished and grew from life’s influences.

Allthewhile my soul was paying attention,
and I felt its restlessness subside into contentment,
and from this, I became content.

Third stanza-brilliant. I like how your poetry feels like we are climbing into your ear and walking around your mind. Like carving open a rust-sealed box to find what shines inside.
