I wrote this poem on my father's front porch the night after he passed away. I read it at his funeral service.

Safe Passage
Although it is always sought, it just cannot be bought,
this ticket was earned by your choices each day.
If you have it you're greeted; no passport is needed;
the angels will show you the way.
Safe passage is granted to only a few,
and the heavens will open to a spectacular view.
God gave safe passage to Dad, there's no need to be sad;
his path lit by the lights of above.
He is in heaven today, and if he could he would say;
I'll be awaiting you in the peace of Gods love.
