Little children, peering out
from behind the rooms in which they hide
Wondering why why why why,
coming apart, in pieces inside
Remembering the whole
reaching back for the memory
of all that is slipping away
God is in their eyes
Hungry, he sees the hundreds,
busy people on their way somewhere.
He wishes he could be in a hurry with
only the worry of getting on about his day
He is wondering, still wandering,
seeking to find a way to live,
to quiet a hunger that consumes him
God is in his eyes
Huddled beneath the covers,
she sees a flicker of light
streaming from the window
She is grateful yet she can’t bear
the sight of another day in pain
And it always feels like rain washes
away one more dream
God is in her eyes
They stand in silence, hearts united,
in protest of a world divided
over nothing more than
something less than love
Bearing witness to the hope
of loosing chains that bind
of fixing what is broken
God is in their eyes
See now, See it now
Your eyes, In your eyes
My God, what a revelation
What a miracle at last,
a surprise to see the eyes
of love, the eyes of God
I see it there in your eyes
In your eyes, In your eyes
God sees me, I see me now
I see me in your eyes.
