Thoughts fogged
Speech clogged
Promises dodged

Vision blurred
Emotions stirred
A wish deferred

Hands shake
Hearts ache
Foot off brake

Mind plays a trick
Tongue’s fuzzy and thick
Answers get slick

Future destroyed
Plans void
Spouse annoyed

First choice – booze
Second – abuse
then - blow a fuse

Drink out of spite
to get things right
...........................................and miss the exit light.

Excellent poetic lyrics!
I participate prison ministry and drugs alcohol are the number #1 reason for many crimes. Folks say that they think about stealing or hurting someone but could not do it without being in a drunkin state. Many wake up in prison the next day wondering if it was all a dream. The devil does not care - sin is sin and in prison many learn how not to get caught the next time. That's why it's called a revolving door and the devils playground.

Peace be with you,

PS: I think Walt makes a good statement; unfortunately, I never learned how to inhale.

Subtle nuances here that hit home as we ponder the affects and defects of the misuse of the subject...alcohol. Well done Becca.

Rebecca,
Alcohol has broken up many homes, I know firsthand. My brother is an alcoholic and has been for many, many years. I haven't seen him in about 10 years or more because of this. I pray for him and all the alcoholics of this world, that they throw the bottle away and turn to Jesus.

Many blessings,
~Linda

Now alcohol rubbing counts as the same? because I feel all tingling afterward but not thirsty!
Oh yes...I did miss the exit light too!
