Dreaming brings me to a door at the end of a cavernous hallway
Its golden-white color transfixes me; its heat comforts me;
No door knob, locks or any type of handle allow entry.
While I am drawn to pass through the door, it does not open.
I look around and see no other means of leaving;
It is through this door I must go.
My eyes are drawn to the door’s high arches
Above them an inscription awaits:
Eternity
I gaze at the word, puzzled and confused
I move toward the door and touch it, feeling its warmth.
I try to peer through the crack between door and wall,
But the door is not willing to offer up secrets.
I push against the door, but there is no movement.
Its protection of what’s beyond steadfast.
I step back and gaze again at the inscription intensely,
As if my staring will force an answer.
With no way to move forward, and no options to the rear
I slink down onto the marble floor, resigned to my fate
As I sit looking at the door, sleep overtakes me
I dream of the loves of my life: family, friends, the Divine
A creaking noise startles me from my sleep
I turn toward the opening door and stare as Love pours out
A bright light draws my gaze up above the door
Below the first inscription is now a second
Enter Through the Door of Love
I rise in astonishment at the complete inscription
As the outflow of Love fills my soul
A familiar voice whispers in my direction,
“One enters Eternity through the Door of Love.”
