Edgar My Darling
Oh whispery muses
Delectation’s perfume
I fell deeply into love
Over the brightest blights
Of the stalking moon…
A stark feral he was
All bound in constraints
Typed upon parchments
Those bitter papery saints…
Edgar …my darling
My grandmother’s rue
Old fashioned wallets
In bitterness confused…
The books of the sedum
Poets moored and defined
She shouted to me that day
You will never be confined…
Oh darling-dearest, my Edgar
Allan and your sweetest Poe
The first muse to ever touch me
Upon poetry I searingly now sow…
