In the Quiet of the Evening

Another dreary day and she sighs

as she gazes past the rain that streaks

the kitchen window.

The day matches her mood –

or perhaps the reverse is true .

Although she tries to find comfort

in hot lemon tea, old photographs

and past memories, it is in vain,

yet she finds what she seeks in the

hushed silence of the evening.

Snuggled beneath an old down comforter,

a smile replaces her frown as dreams

transport her to tropical beaches where the

softness of sand tickles her feet as she feels

the warmth of his hand in hers –

dreams that will soon be her reality.

A beautiful picture
But its the rains that brings such beauty forward
One must appreciate the rains as well as a clear
tropical day......

I admire this on many levels particularly the recognition that we create our experience from the inside-out. This poem pulsates with the same insightful, artistic heart that first drew me to your work and that always keeps me returning.

Looking at the picture and reading the poem's words make me feel like Robinson Crusoe most have felt, but, the solitude is calm and the soul without rebellion.

Dawn,
The perfect indulgence, good indulgence of course! You turn the tears of reality and loss and longing into a positive view of a paradise far away from misery and bring comfort to everyone who reads this lovely warm offering.

Dawn, the way this write began I felt the emotion you put forth in your pen and the way you turned it at the end was like turning the page of a book only to start yet another chapter...a chapter that not only captivates, but one where dreams become the reality that they are...well done as you always write so very beautiful.

I love this, Dawn. Permit me to share your dream,
perchance to sail away on the silence of the evening
