A New Day

When we finally, FINALLY, meet the one that we are destined to be with.. oh how heartbreaking, to be apart

Gray days filled with
Thoughts of you
Rain beating against the window
Reminding me that
You are not here

Dark empty nights
Memories of you beside me
Feeling you reach out and
Touch me
Memories that make me
Want you, need you
Even more

The early morning light
Filters through
The curtains
Painting the wall
With hues of orange and yellow
My eyes are open
And my heart is breaking
Aching
Wanting you here beside me

The phone rings
My heart sings
I hold the receiver close to my ear
And hear
My love
He whispers, “I love you”
The very sound of his voice
Fills me with such joy
A new day
Filled with thoughts
Of tomorrow and forever

Beautifully orchestrated build-up of words made this poem of longing excellent to read. The pain of being alone without your lover is front and center, and even the reader, if he has any passion whatsoever for love can feel the pain. (Kinda don't care for that phrase, "feel the pain," but it seems to work here.)
