What joy, when love returns!


Softly, I hear you open the door
(My love has returned!)
Quietly you walk across the room
(You do not want to disturb me)
I lie motionless pretending to sleep
(I know how you love to hold me)
I feel the weight of you as you slide into bed
(Anticipation is almost too much to bear)
Then, your arms slide around me with such tenderness
(How can I contain my joy?)
You whisper in my ear, “You are my love”
(I can wait no longer!)
“I love you too!”
I turn to face you
Our lips meet
And we become one
