It is so wonderful when we fall in love with a friend

I don't know how it happened
I can't remember when
I first realized my life
had been for ever changed
you were my friend
someone on which I could
always depend
to tell me the truth , when others would not
to hold me up , to be my rock

WE talked every day
about nothing at all
but we also spoke about
our dreams our goals
knew each others secrets
but also knew they would never be told

You, my friend are my confidant
my conscience
my inner voice
that will never tell me
what I want to hear
but always the truth
be it soft or harsh
I know it comes from your heart

So when did it change?
When did you become
someone I could not live without
a very large part of my heart
when did it cross that line
where friend becomes
a man I love
still my friend
but now so much has changed

I respect you more
than any man I have ever known
you make me laugh
you always know just what to say
to drive the world far away
when I need to it gone
