A poem appropriate for the coming of winter--it blinks in the weak sun and embraces life to come. Published, Coffee Press Journal, copyright to J. Donald Coonrod.

Northern Lights
Come into darkness
passing sunset’s gleam;
reflecting diamonds
in an amniotic membrane
of streaming hearts.
Nothing nourishes life more
than ephemeral DNA
breathing in bed—an archipelago
soundlessly splashing
in a river of flickering
crystalline cold, incomparable
beauty, ageless Nordic song
of boats and Northern lights.
