Oh, the ambiguities of love! Published Nov./Dec. 2007, Coffee Press Journal, rights to J. Donald Coonrod.
|
Correspondence can bring
a flicker of eyes or a sudden
silence when one side says,
I love you.
Both wait for an outcome,
an avalanche from mountains
of life lived before, those
soft crystal moments and thousands
of words flowing in winters air.
Inside is a private flame, a
glow from me alone that says,
what you ask deep down is
really unknown, but yes,
I love you.

How true it is that a handwritten letter can reveal such profound emotions, and you've put it all in this one poem. Beautiful.
